Party Fruit Punch
A punch bowl that isn't sickly — built on tea and citrus rather than sugar, and it scales to any number.

Ingredients
- 4 cups strong brewed black tea, cooled
- 2 cups pineapple juice
- 2 cups orange juice
- 1 cup fresh lime juice
- 0.5 cup simple syrup, to taste
- 4 cups soda water, added at the end
- Sliced oranges, limes and pineapple
- A block of ice
Method
- 1Mix the tea, juices and syrup in a large bowl and refrigerate at least 2 hours.
- 2Freeze water in a small tub the day before to make one large block of ice.
- 3Just before serving, add the block of ice, the sliced fruit, and the soda water.
- 4Ladle into cups, giving everyone a piece of fruit.

Notes
- One big block of ice instead of cubes. It melts far slower, so the punch is still drinkable at the end of the night.
- The black tea gives the tannin that stops punch tasting like squash.
- Hold the soda until the moment you serve or it'll be flat.
Common questions
How do you make punch that isn't too sweet?
Build it on strong tea and fresh citrus rather than juice alone, and add the sweetener last, to taste. Tea brings tannin and lime brings acid, which are the two things sweet punches lack.
